Everything Connects Beautifully and Returns to the Cycle

Yusuke Asai(Japan)

A drawing appears on the ground of the Omachi Meitengai shopping street, which features a unique 150m-long arcade. Asai used parts that local children cut out of white road sign stickers in the shapes of water and plants, combined them into bigger shapes of nature, animals, and plants such as deer, wolves, rivers, lakes, ivy, and flowers, and glued them to the ground. The work was produced for Shinano-Omachi 2014 – Food and Art Corridor, a predecessor to the Northern Alps Art Festival, and has been maintained by local people who at one with the history of the town.
