Moonlight Faust
Kazuyoshi Kushida(Japan)
“Moonlight Faust” toured around Nagano in 2019 was reborn as “Moonlight Faust; a solo act” in June 2020 using a small pavilion in the park as a stage when many of the theatres were forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kushida plays different roles in the story. which is a combination of “Faust”, a real-life alchemist in the Middle Ages, who inspired books, puppet shows, a novel by Goethe, and manga by Tezuka Osamu in later time, and Kushida’s childhood memories. The solo act, which was born as a result of the pandemic, will be performed on the outdoor stage of Shinanokizaki Summer University standing on the hill by the Lake Kisaki. A fantastic stage emerges by the lakeside under the moon-lit night.
“What divides humans from demons?”
He questions as he changes from Dr Faust to the demon Mephistopheles.
