Collusion(or Rupture)
Atsuko Mochida(Japan)
The artist occupies two former houses for teachers in Miasa. The houses adjacent to each other were once for a schoolmaster and a headteacher respectively. The physical distance, wall, borders that divided these two houses are changed and crushed and overlaid by overwhelming force. The ordinary relation of two houses standing next to each other is collapsed and reconstructed by each viewer. Located on the western edge of the Fossa Magna which divides the Japanese archipelago into east and west, this place has been repeatedly uplifted and carved by active tectonic movements. The artist takes a challenge to move and transform houses which are supposed to be immovable.
