WORK

REFUGIO

Emma Malig(Chile/France)

End

In the former ironworks, the artist presents a historic and mystical work that reminds us of a small chapel. The work hanging in a gray, robust factory space is reminiscent of stained glass in a chapel. It draws mountains, lakes, and valleys of Omachi with natural light and fills the inside of the factory space with light. Countless rectangles are made of translucent iron thread with a hint of colour. As the title of the work implies, it is a space similar to a mountain shelter which protects and warmly welcomes climbers in the Northern Alps. By entering the work, viewers can get a deeper sense of the transparency of the work, its structure, and its dialogues with the factory architecture.
