Akinorium in OMACHI

Akinori Matsumoto(Japan)

Now on view

Shinano Omachi is famous for its local sake made of high-quality rice and underground water streaming down from the Northern Alps. The Sake Museum which once displayed large barrels; tools used to make sake in past times; and different sakes from all over Japan reopens to present a new artwork for the festival. The artist, who creates shadow pictures and sound objects from bamboo, creates a primitive landscape featuring the nature of Shinano Omachi, such as pine forests in snow and a pond filled with water. The sound object which keeps moving as it catches wind makes a simple bamboo sound. Visitors can experience the world of a once-in-a-lifetime encounter in this space that is constantly changing with time.
