Fairytale world
Li Hongbo(China)
An object that looks like a large-scale world map consisting of paper sculptures glued together appears in the multi-purpose hall in Omachi Onsenkyo. Each object representing an individual vivid “country” is distorted into a familiar-looking shape and evokes a sense that viewers would never have felt before. The artist was moved by the mountains, clear sky, and blue lake spreading out in front of him when he first visited Omachi City. He has been exhibiting a series of works called “Fairytale World” since 2011. Moreover, he uses mirrored surfaces representing the water of Omachi and arranges them to intersect with each other so that he could create a world surrounded by colours.
