Spring of Soil

Yusuke Asai(Japan)

Now on view

Engaging supporters from within and outside the region, this gigantic mural was painted with thirteen different kinds of soil collected in Shinano Omachi on the outer wall of Omachi Energy Museum where the history of hydro-energy is presented. The artist restores and recreates the work which has been on display since the first iteration of the festival in 2017. The artist collects fragmented images from people who have shared time with the waters surrounding the town and combines these with shapes that emerge from his body. The completed work expands freely, giving us a sense of life.
