Spring of Soil

Yusuke Asai(Japan)

This gigantic 20m long and 6m high mural is painted on the outer wall of the Omachi Energy Museum. Using thirteen different kinds of soil found in the local area, Asai collected fragmented images from people with connections to the waters surrounding the town, and combined them with shapes that emerged from his body. The rich colors of the soil tell of the diverse natural environment of Omachi. The completed work expands freely, conveying a sense of life.
