Where the wind crosses
Aiko Miyanaga(Japan)
Lots of ema dedicated since ancient times are hanging from the ceiling of the Omachigokoku Shrine standing in the precinct of Nyakuichioji. When you sit down in this place where people’s wishes are gathered, you are reminded that the shrine has confronted various events throughout its long history. For this festival, the exhibition conveys breezes to a dimly-lit space which is usually sealed with a wooden door. Feel the movements of wind and light and listen to the sound of crystal formation.

Born in 1974 and lives in Kyoto. She has drawn attention with works that visualise time by using traces of presence – such as everyday objects shaped by naphthalene, piercing sounds of salt pouring into pottery and an installation using leaf veins.
