Water Land -Little Town Omachi-

Rintaro Hara + Yu Hara(Japan)

End

The artists miniaturised nature, seasons, animals, architectures, the lives of people, and traditions of Shinano Omachi to create an installation under the concept of “fictional, tiny Omachi”. The running stream makes a water passage surrounded by mountains, forests, fountains, and waterfalls. In addition, ships, watermills, and buildings contribute to turning the entire work into an imaginary cityscape of Shinano Omachi. Mechanical water devices set out various tricks, inviting visitors to float a small boat on the stream to enjoy tiny Omachi. As has been proven by history, civilisation begins on the banks of a big river. Here, a small but long river runs through the centre as an amusing art world extends around on all sides.
