Water and Light

Tsuyoshi Hongo(Japan)

End

Rice sprouts in search of water and light, while human beings live on the light called rice. The 45,000 km bicycle journey that the artist began at the Cape of Good Hope in Africa was a journey to return to his hometown. He searched out ‘water sources’ in the process of returning to the origin and became passionate about rice production that he started after moving to Omachi to live. He says “the landscape of rice fields and water sources is like an umbilical cord connecting nature and human beings. I would like to make space through photographs which enable both local people and visitors to quietly feel that the scene of water and light itself is a pleasure and bliss.”
