The Journey of Seeds
Chikai Kakizaki（Japan）
The artist will recreate the work she created during the artist-in-resident project called “Shinano Omatchi Asahi AIR” in 2019. There is a carpet in natural colours using seeds and plants collected by the people of Shinano Omachi. Plants, seeds, and small grains seen in everyday life are carried by animals, wind, or people’s hands and keep circulating. These seeds that the artist have found will be distributed after the festival so that they will continue to grow. The artwork tells the importance of finding and recognising something small which you might tend to overlook.
Chikai Kakizaki（Japan）
Born in 1979 in Tochigi, currently resides in Tokyo. The artist collects small things in nature and daily life and creates dolls and collages. In 2004 she launched a café by a opening 4.5 tatami-mat room in her house to the public and working with various creators in collaborations.
