Sadao Takahashi(Japan)
Sadao Takahashi(Japan)
1940: Born and lives in Omachi, Nagano, Japan.
With beautiful mountains as a background, he produces wood carvings with a rustic design and texture with his tools and the gnarled fingers typical of the Shinshu people. Carvings with colored powder and gold leaf layered on the lacquer express a state of mind with powerful, but delicately poetical imagination. After studying at the New Japan Agricultural Art Institute, Sadao contributed not only to his own creative activities, but also to the guidance of a new generation and artistic development in the region.
