Water Trip

Yohei Chimura(Japan)

End

Shinano Omachi has abundant nature and an overwhelming amount of snow-melt water streaming down from the Northern Alps. On the other hand, the ocean pollution caused by plastic garbage is a pressing issue confronting the world. The artist creates a space where rain and mist linger in Omachi which once flourished on the 'salt road'. Visitors can freely come and go through the passage provided in the work as they experience it. The artist has a reputation for manipulating glass and plastic materials which change their shape with the energy of heat and has presented illusionistic installations across Japan. For this festival, he creates an artwork that makes viewers think about the contrast between natural and artificial things as well as nature and environmental pollution.
