WORK

North by North West

Yukihisa Isobe(Japan)

Continuing from “Wind Direction Undefinable” (2017), Isobe developed a huge land-art work by Nanakura Dam. With air flow, water currents, and their circulation as the theme, the path of the river and the geography of the area before the dams were created was overlaid on the current topography, and a compass with a diameter of 80m was drawn on the ground, pointing to NNW 22.5°. Extending to the spring of the Tasegawa river, the work focuses on the transforming nature around the Nanakura Dam, its relationship with the Takase and Omachi Dams, and the wider region.
