NEO KAGURA

Torus Vil.(Japan)

NEO KAGURA is a new performance program inspired by the sacred dance stage of the venue, Hachioji shrine. Torus Vil. explored the shimozuki kagura of Tenryu village Okouchi in South Shinshu, and the omiya kagura of Tanohata village in Iwate, along with other performing arts they have practiced and developed, to create a new piece. They also researched the kagura dance that has been handed down in Hachioji shrine. They focused on the ways that kagura dances continued to develop to remain fit for the time during the process of their inheritance, and created a new kagura dance from a contemporary point of view with cutting-edge artists such as Omiya Daisuke.
