Forestry Art

North Alps Foresters Group(Japan)

At a time when forestation is a common process, this local group of loggers has pursued the maintenance of diversity in the forest habitat, including wild broad-leaved trees such as konora oak, beech, and maple. They now create a project to establish a future forest. Cutting down 27 cedar trees that had grown for 50 years, and using lumber processes to give them life as timber, they are returned to the forest as art pieces. While we understand trees as a resource, the grove of remaining cedar trees alongside young, broad-leaved trees expresses the future of the forest as a mix of broad and needle leaved varieties.

North Alps Foresters Group

North Alps Foresters Group(Japan)

An organization formed by foresters of the Northern Alps area (Omachi and Kita-Azumino). Originally founded through a local administration initiative as an attempt to encourage more successors to foresters, it became independent in 2000. It is a relaxed organization to which members bring independent ideas to work on together.
