Located in Omachi Park, where the whole Northern Alps can be viewed at a glance, is AWHOB, an institution for observing the individual nature and characteristics of universal phenomena. Here, weather forecasts and data from meteorological observation of the Northern Alps are recorded each day, and the circumstances of the place are adjusted according to that information. Visitors’ senses become their unique experiences, drifting away from the regulation of time, space, and gravity, through the activities undertaken here.

Born in 1987 in Kagoshima. Based on the experiences that certain environments and circumstances offer to individuals, Funakawa explores the individual and specific phenomena that enlarges them. He works with various weather phenomena, information, discovered things, light and sound, and technologies in various media to produce work.
