WORK
A Whisper in the Eye of the Storm
Caitlind R.C. Brown & Wayne Garrett(Canada)
On the southern side of Lake Kizaki, at Nishina Shrine’s Kitano Mori, where you can see the remains of an ancient castle, lies an optical illusion work. The circular frame with a cedar tree in its center conveys the image of a water ripple. There are about 20,000 glasses lenses hanging there. In each lens, the scenery is reflected in a wide angle, and the audience is surrounded by a view that shifts into particles. Feeling the lakeside breeze, this piece questions how we see and re-see the world around us.
