7 Everything Connects Beautifully and Returns to the Cycle

Yusuke ASAI

This work was made and exhibited across Omachi Shopping Arcade for the 2014 Shinano-Omachi Food &Art Corridor event. The surface of the road was covered with a mosaic of water- and plant-themed patterns with the help of a host of participants who cut out pieces from the white painting material. In the shopping arcade that still emanates an aura of the economically booming Showa period of Japan, it is as if the town’s very own geoglyph was created from the mosaic’s many intertwined stories and legends. The artwork still remains on the streets today, adorning the town of Shinano Omachi and blending into the everyday life of the local people.
