Tadashi Kawamata

Born 1953 in Hokkaido / Lives and works in Paris
A world-renowned artist, participating in exhibitions such as the 1982 Venice Biennale and subsequent Documenta. In 2005, he served as the general director of the Yokohama Triennale and is currently a professor at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts (National School of Fine Arts) in Paris, France. His projects are related to architecture and urban planning, history, sociology, and daily communication, even extending into the field of medical care.

2014: Awarded medal of officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (officer of French Order of Arts & Letters )
2012: Awarded the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts, Japan
